Our month started with the annual “Souper” Bowl meal served by the deacons.  Two kinds of Chili, gumbo and Chicken Noodle with Eldon’s famous HOME-MADE noodles! There was good natured competition between the chili recipes- Pastor Angel’s and Cindy Struve’s.   The Deacons raised about $400 for their Helping Hands Mission, which is used locally to assist people with emergency assistance for food, fuel, rent or utilities.

February also brought the start of Lent this year. As a church we are reading

move forward.

As we move through the Lenten season we are focusing on the experience and asking our selves “Were You There?” as the story of Christ’s last days unfolds before us, and our sanctuary falls into darkness. We are also  watching a single red rose and the Lenten season unfolds, the rose begins to fade and the stem withers and dries, a symbol of the crucifixion.
